José Jiménez López and Encarnación Godoy Molina founded the company Industrias Gráficas Jiménez Godoy in the mid-sixties of the last century. From the modest initial location in a warehouse located on the Alcantarilla road, in Murcia, the firm later moved to the old Alicante road, also near the capital, until it managed to launch an emporium that currently employs more than 250 people, occupies an industrial and logistics area of 50,000 square meters and has other headquarters in Madrid. Barcelona, Malaga and Valencia.

José Jiménez began his career as an employee in a traditional printing press, with movable type with which the texts were composed letter by letter and printed in a single ink. With this professional background and with the support of his wife, the couple opened their first business on the Alcantarilla road, in a place near La Herrera, the place where José Jiménez was born.

The company later moved to premises on the Badel road, very close to its initial location. At the beginning of the seventies, the couple acquired the Policrom printing industry and established itself in its definitive location, on the Alicante road. From that time on, the growth of Gráficas Jiménez Godoy was unstoppable, to the point of being considered for many years the best printing press in the southern half of Spain, with customers spread throughout the country.

The remarkable performance of the firm has earned numerous recognitions. The last one, in 2024, when the couple received the Business Career Award awarded annually by the Murcia Chamber of Commerce. Much earlier, in 2002, it was elected Company of the Year by the Murcian Association of Family Business (Amefmur). On the other hand, the founding partners launched together with other local businessmen the Murcian section of the Association for the Progress of Management.

A marriage of deep Christian convictions, their beliefs led Gráficas Jiménez Godoy to sometimes reject works because they considered them contrary to their beliefs. This position gave rise, on occasion, to public controversies reflected in regional and national media.

In other areas, José Jiménez and Encarna Godoy also stand out as art collectors and patrons of painters and sculptors. They even dared to be gallery owners, opening in 2006 two galleries in Pamplona (Uno2Tres) and Madrid (Godoy World Art -GWA Madrid), which closed a few years later.

José Jiménez died on September 4, 2024, at the age of 77. Her delicate state of health led Encarnación Godoy to assume the role of sole administrator. In recent years, the company has been led by Marién and Francisco Jiménez Godoy.
